2019 Milwaukee Zine fest schedule of events

This year’s fest involves a kick-off event, an after-event, and special activities throughout the day. All for free.

Kick-off: Friday, April 5th

 

Bending the Archive:
Zines, Preservation,
& the Digital Humanities
Join us for this free panel discussion with special guest Jenna Freedman from Barnard College’s Zine Library!
4:00 to 6:00pm // C21 at UWM

Milwaukee Zine Fest: Saturday April 6th

10:30am to 4:30pm

- Vendor tables open for browsing!
- MPL zine archive on display
- Print your own letterpress poster with BVPC
- Block-printed patches with UWM Print Club
- DIY zine making table with Celeste Contreras
- Typewriter fun with Milwaukee Typewriters

Noon to 1pm: Zine Workshop #1
Easy folded methods (beginner level)

Join us in the Rare Books Room for a hands-on zine-binding workshop focused on easy fold-only zines. Great for kids and beginners! Free, but space is limited!

1pm to 2pm: Zine Workshop #2
Sewn zines: single and double signature (more advanced)

A second chance to learn to bind to zines! Stop by the Rare Books Room to learn simple saddle stitching and a more-advance double-signature method. Free, but space is limited!

MZF After-event and unofficial meet up

5pm to 8pm:
Meet up with your new zine friends at Facilitating Situations for a free showcase featuring even more zine artists in an immersive display. All details here.

All evening:
After you pop by Facilitating Situations, we suggest you walk right down the block to Fuel Cafe’s Walker’s Point location to mix and mingle with other zinesters, vendors, and MZF guests.

*note that this is not an official “event” just our suggested spot to gather for post-fest chatting, drinks and noshes.
